The Trip
I just arrived home after 12hrs of flight, why did it have to be a night flight. Lol. Brutal I tell you. Monday was my first day in Vegas; we spent the day walking around our Hotel. I need to tell you how big the hotels are in that city, Its hard to imagine because even in New York Hotels aren’t that big… Our hotel claims it has 3000 rooms in three different towers; they recently built an 18 million dollar pool. (This happens to be very useful, because it is hot out there during the day) The casino is quite big they are famous for their sport betting sections, I think there was over 16 HUGE screens in there (when I mean huge I mean HUGE). That night, we stopped at many casinos on the strip. You need to understand that Las Vegas Boulevard is about six lanes in both directions and the side walks are about 3 times the size that we have on St-Catherine. Everything is designed to be BIG and flashy. Lights flickering everywhere, more people then you can imagine, show’s playing in each casino’s. The Hotel we stayed at was the Las Vegas Hilton; it is on the North side of the strip. Most of the new BIG hotels are now located to the south side right beside the airport. Walking towards the strip the first hotels we in counted is the Riviera and Circus Circus hotel. The last one has a chapel in there, you can get married for 90$. It is nice they also have Rent-A-Tux shop right beside! American, they know how to do business. Afterwards the Wynn is impressive; I will attach a video of the screen in front of that hotel. A must see! The Mirage has a huge volcano in front of it and every few minutes it starts to erupt and hundreds of people watch the spectacle. Next The Paris casino has an exact replica of the Eiffel tower, just half the size. They even let you go on the top of the tower for a small fee, what a great idea. (You have to check the pictures.) New York, New York Hotel is unique in its genre; it has a Roller Coaster on the top of it. Fred and I were a little drunk at that point.. It was a very fun ride.. It’s weird when you do that in a city. We also stopped at hooters casino, other then the traditional restaurant and the girls.. There is nothing special. The MGM grand is HUGE and all green at night. It is a unique peace of art. Actually all these hotels are peaces of arts. It takes one hell of an architect and engineer to make one of those structures. Some hotel lot size can be 1km by 1km. I do not know if you can imagine how long it takes to walk a corner but it can easily take 15 minutes. When we arrived at 4am at the hotel, the Air Conditioning was making huge amount of noise. We had to call room service and they changed us rooms. The next day at 11 o’clock we were at the pool, swam a little and took it easy. We had to wake up at 2:15 am to go get our rental car to head out for the Grand Canyon. The last time I saw was 10:30. It is hard to fall asleep early with jetlag and all.

The Road Trip and Grand Canyon
3:00am Tuesday morning we rent a car at Dollar.com, the girl who gave us the car gave us a free upgrade.. I am not sure why but maybe because it was my b-day in a few days. We had a PT cruiser convertible. It was the first time of my life that I assisted at a sunrise in the desert. The colors were very nice and the air a little chilly. The roads are perfect, that is something we do not have here in Quebec. We arrived at the entrance of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon at 9am. We wanted to go see the Havasu Falls located at 10 miles from were we can park our car. The ride down is fun and very beautiful. Words cannot describe how nice it is to hike down the Grand Canyon. Actually a Camera cannot take pictures of the Grand Canyon, it is so big/magnificent no matter were you look you see it. Fred was using sandals to walk down the Grand Canyon. They started to hurt him and he injured his foot. Walking on it was unbearable to him; we had to spend the night in the Grand Canyon. We rented a room at a lodge in the village. It had two beds and no TV or phone. Our room was number 13; you can see Natives are not superstitious. At nightfall, the only thing we would, hear was crickets. It was so calm, no car noises.. I loved sleeping down there one hell of an experience. The next morning we took a Native Air Helicopter back to our car. Fred’s foot was a little inflated; it would be stupid to walk on it for no reason. Hence, the Helicopter, the ride was nice; I did not expect to be so deep down. When we were inside the Grand Canyon, we were actually inside an other huge whole. It just never ends. The view from the Air is amazing.

The way back
After such an experience, we decided to Stop at McDonald’s for “feel good food” I guess being stuck in the Grand Canyon without food makes you hungry. (We are men, we do not plan ahead). After all there events it was now Thursday. Once arrived back at the Hotel, car dropped off, it was time to drink a beer! We drank a few beers at the Tempo lounge and then headed out for The Beach. It is a night club right beside our Hotel. We were tied and did not want to go out to far. Once there we end up talking to a girl who works there (but not that day), she was waiting for her friend to finish dancing. I craved home cook food and ended up making 4 steaks and Fries at the Girls house. After the late supper, she drove us back to the hotel (she lived right beside) and we went to bed at around 5:30 am.

The chilling section
At 10am the next day we were up because there was some “construction” in the hotel. We could hear a lot of noise from the room right above us. Apparently, they are renovating. We spend the day at the pool relaxing. That’s when my hatred for Barry Manilow started happening. They have huge pictures of him all over the hotel. They signed him up to play a few times a week! He even has a memorabilia shop in the hotel. IT’S NUTS! Ok, back at the pool.. I read my book, tanned and swam. It was so nice and relaxing. Then we went to the buffet in the Casino and I eat a lot of good food. It’s not a crappy buffet like we have in Montreal. Afterwards we went to the strip, because of exhaustion we went to bed at 12. Saturday Fred and I decided to “mentally check out”. We spend that day at the pool; we did nothing but swim and relaxed. At night we decided to check out the Stratosphere but there was so many people on the trip and the roads we went back to the hotel early.

Sunday which is still Today for me right now, but it’s actually Monday 1:52pm in Montreal. We spent a little bit of time in the Casino, but mostly at the pool after 4:00pm we packed for our flight scheduled at 8pm for Denver, our connecting flight was for Washington at 11:58pm. We arrived at Washington Dallas international airport at 6:00am eastern time and had to wait until 8:20 for our One-hour flight back to Montreal. I am home exhausted but I had an amazing trip. Fred is a great travel companion and a lot funny events happened during those days.
